The World Congress on Enforced Disappearances (WCED) has announced a series of upcoming online consultations with Civil Society Organizations (CSOs) across various regions. These consultations are scheduled as part of WCED's ongoing efforts to engage with stakeholders globally and address the critical issue of enforced disappearances. The initiative aims to foster collaboration, gather insights, and develop strategies to combat enforced disappearances worldwide.
Scheduled from May to June 2024, the consultations will provide a platform for CSOs from diverse backgrounds and regions to share their experiences, challenges, and recommendations regarding enforced disappearances. Through these interactive sessions, participants will have the opportunity to engage in meaningful discussions, exchange best practices, and contribute to the development of effective strategies for prevention, investigation, and prosecution of enforced disappearances. WCED encourages CSOs working in the field of human rights, justice, and advocacy to actively participate and bring forth their perspectives to the table.
Online consultations with CSOs will be organized in the following regions:
· Asia on 3 May 2024, 10:00- 13:00 CET, Online
· Africa on 16 May 2024
· Middle East and North Africa on 31 May 2024
· Europe on 14 June 2024
· Latin America and Caribbean on 27 June 2024
Together, through collaborative efforts and shared determination, WCED and CSOs worldwide strive to uphold human rights, seek justice for victims, and combat enforced disappearances on a global scale.
